No, it's completely genuine. I know the owners of both web sites, and
neither are prone to distributing false information.
Dr. Peter Henderson, the owner of the amazonian-fish.co.uk site, has spent a
considerable amount of time sampling the ichthyofauna of the Mamiraua
reserve in Brazil, and and I've asked him about this fish in the past. He's
giving a talk at the next British Cichlid Convention over here in April, so
I'll press him for any more information.
Make a fascinating breeding project, but of limited use for public display!
