I have a tank of rainbow shiners that I've been watching closely for
breeding coloration, and today they're there. One male, in particular, has
become psychedelic dayglo blue and green with red highlights. There are five
of them and three striped shiners, _Luxilus chrysocephalus_, who are color
shifting too. I've built a ridge of coarse gravel and pebbles in the middle
of the tank, my best impression of a stoneroller. Hopefully I can get viable
fry this time... These rainbows are from the sometimes maligned Little Wills
Creek in Collinsville, DeKalb County, AL.
