I have noticed that ,at least locally, I've caught more tesselated darters
in relatively quiet pools. More so than in riffles where the water was
swift. This was the creek where I was able to collect with Lee Harper and
several members of the Lancaster Co. Aquarium Club.
Even when I placed them in an aquarium with a powerhead, they rarely ever
spent any time in the current.
