NANFA-- Steinbeck & Salamanders

He's lucky he didn't get hold of a Rough skinned Newt or he might have
died before his time!

I probably said it before but I think his story- "The Pearl" was really
awesome- especially the trek across Mexico that goes thru some really
awesome places- esp the canyon with the waterfalls and ferns that must
have been something like Dick Bartlett's (In Search of Reptiles &
Amphibians) trips to Colima and "Sinaloae Land". I read the Pearl long
before I ever heard of Bartlett or Mexican Wood Turtles or saw my first
Sinaloan Milksnake- but now I can just visualize it like a movie with a
few shots of these and other critters slithering or scurrying among the
rocks and yucca plants.
