Did a little impromptu collecting today:

3-11-2004 Wayne County Ohio Rt 226 between Wooster and Shreve,
tributary that crosses Rt 226 just north of Kister Rd. Sampled from
Rt 226 and to the east. Used 4' x 8' x 1/8" seine. Species list:

rainbow darter
johnny darter
blacknose dace

3-11-2004 Wayne County Ohio Killbuck Marsh south of Clark Road
(between the towns of Moreland and Shreve). Used 4' x 8' x 1/8" seine
and 1/16" x 16.5" Perfect dipnets. Worked swamp along old right of
way east of Killbuck Creek. Lots of gravid and nicely colored
mudminnows. No other fish. One very large female specimen.
Continued south down right of way no tiny tributary with minimal
flow, but long pools. Came up with a seine full of young minnows
listed below and one large mudminnow. Sampled marsh along north and
south sides of Clark Road. Many mudminnows a tadpole, a green
sunfish, large diving beetle about 1" long. One very large male
mudminnow with huge irridescent green anal fin. Don't let anyone
tell you mudminnows aren't pretty! :) Species list:

central mudminnow
green sunfish
bluntnose minnow
rosefin or redfin shiner
striped or common shiner
spotfin shiner

3-11-2004 Wayne County Ohio town of Kidron at intersection of Kidron
Rd and Emerson Rd. North Fork Sugar Creek. Used 4' x 8' x 1/8"
seine. Lots of fish. Large creek chubs, blacknose dace and redbelly
dace. Very large white suckers for such a small stream. Species
list:

creek chub
blacknose dace
southern redbelly dace
white sucker
green sunfish
striped or common shiner
central stoneroller
bluntnose minnow

This was kind of last minute. Hope no one feels slighted. We just
scoped out three new collecting spots - all the better for future
trips! :)
