Huchen (Hucho hucho), the western European representative of the genus, has
been the subject of intensive fish husbandry efforts over there (there's a
whole volume dedicated to cptive propagation techniques!). The east Asian
taxa (H. taimen, H. perryi) are a bit more difficult to come by, and would
have been unlikely to have been available to early fisheries biologists.

They are still awesome, even for being "glamour" fish...
