Ive gotten stickleback and the occasional Lepomis like this when buying fathead minnows or emerald shiners as bait in Ohio. None of them ever really wanted to take the time to look though, and fish stores up around the greater Cleveland area just give a really puzzled look when you say "native". Then again most everything here has gone the way of Pet Supplies Plus, Pet Smart and a few local chains.
