Bob asked:
>>> Does anyone know whether P. sphenops is found along the Texas coast?<<<

John replied:
>>>I caught one down along the mouth of the Brazos near Freeport. At least
I
thought it that species. It is not native, it is not on the state list (
http://www.rra.dst.tx.us/bi/fish/county/Fishlist.cfm ) nor the NANFA list
( http://www.nanfa.org/NANFAregions/tx/Fishlist41.pdf )<<<

Jan adds:
"Livebearing Fishes" by John Dawes (1991) provides pretty good "natural" and
"non-natural" ranges for exotic poeciliids. No records are listed for
Texas. But given the high number of exotic species - and the occurrence of
other live-bearers - it would not seem too surprising to find spenops in
Lone Star waters.
