I made a day trip to the Strong River (the Sunday collection site for
the convention) looking for Noturus miurus. Got skunked once
again, but I did mangae to collect two shadow bass and two sand
darters (A. vivax) which have buried themselves in the outdoor tank
I maintain just for sand darters. Also (BG, take note), I confirmed
with Roy Weitzell at MMNS that the juvenile I collected near
Foxworth, MS is in fact P. welaka. Roy is looking forward to a
near future trip to LA to get some Pteronoptropis spp for his
blackwater stream exhibit.
