NANFA-- fish ponds

One thing I was wondering about is aeration or circulation. I know that the
standard wisdom is that some kind of circulation is need but I didn't have any
and everything seemed fine. I did have lots of plants though. One benefit I
thought of the lack of circulation was the thermal layering of the pool so that
there was a warm surface layer which was obviously prefered by the B S Sunfish
fry, while the adults prefered the cooler temps below (I think).
