I know from science that ionic substances (i.e. salts ) conduct
electricity in a solution. Hence when you are measuring conductivity, you
are actually figuring out the amount of salt(s) in the solution.
However, I do not know if the solids in "TDS" refers to just salts
or a combination of salts and other substances (like sugar - a covalent
substance or organic matter)
If the TDS just refers to salts, then TDS number is a measure of
the conductivity i.e. exact correspondence.
Are Andrew Dalton or Nestor still on this list? They'll know for
sure.
