I've never had my native fish get ich so I can't help you there. I feed 75% frozen brine shrimp and 25% frozen blood worms. I know this isn't the most varied diet but it has worked for me. The fry are feed newly hatched brine shrimp and micro worms. I
do notice that the raised darters do not lay as many eggs as wild caught fish and they never reach the color of wild fish in the spawning season. Could be the diet? The above diet has been feed to rainbow, greenside, fantail, johnny, dusky, Iowa and le
ast which all have been spawned. The wild caught fish learn to eat it with in one week. I do have slenderhead darters from the Urbana convention that are still going stronge with no signs of old age.
