Seems like I read in Ross Socoloff's book "Confessions of a Tropical fish
Addict" that he has observed "tropical" fish being able to withstand cooler
and cooler water. I had some variatus make it through the winter in an
unheated pond this year - to be sure, we had a mild winter, but we still had
a few light freezes. All the more reason not to release fish!!!
