I think that a distinction must be made between selective cutting of trees for
lumber, furniture, firewood, etc. and wholesale clearcutting, Even one to five
acre clearcuts to open up natural food plots as th PA Game Commission used to do
are acceptable as long as care is taken to protect against erosion and silting of
streams. But, taking out whole sides of mountians and leaving the federal
goverment, and us taxpayers, to pay for the damage as well as pay the costs as
subsidies to develop the areas, is just plain wrong.
