Wildlife Specialist - I: M.S. (in hand by hire date) in Biology,
Fisheries Science or related field. One year related experience.
General knowledge of fish biology, chemistry, physiology, and toxicology
required. Working knowledge of a variety of lab procedures/assays and
equipment, and standard laboratory quality control methods required.
Experience with a necropsy-based fish health condition profile,
spreadsheet and presentation computer programs, managing and analyzing
databases, and use and application of statistical methods.
Responsibilities include maintenance of fish culture facility and remote
field collection sites, coordinating field collections of tissue and
blood samples and laboratory analysis of samples, generating written
reports, maintaining inventory and purchasing supplies and equipment,
supervising lab and field technicians,and creating/ presenting fish
health seminars for students and professionals. Required
licenses/certifications include animal use and care certification, use
of radioisotopes certification, use of hazardous chemicals training, and
NMSU drivers license. Salary commensurate with qualifications
(contingent upon funding). Group medical\hospital\life\disability
