Simplest difference is in the adipose fins I think
.The fleshy fins near the tailfin on top . On Noturus
It goes up against the caudal fin and is attached to
the back/top all or very nearly all the way .
Ictalurus adipose does not go up to the caudal and is
not attached for a good portion .Hope I have that
right .
