The NANFA Conservation Research Grant is accepting grant proposals in our
third annual round of competition. We offer up to $1000 to support research
relating to the conservation of North America's indigenous fish fauna.
Applicants must be NANFA members in good standing (most of you on this list,
I hope!). Application guidelines are available at the NANFA web site,
www.nanfa.org and follow links for the Conservation Research Grant. The
deadline for applications is January 17, 2003, and the review committee will
announce the winner(s) by March 31, 2003.

Previous recipients of this award are:
2001: Jean Krejca, University of Texas, to study the Mexican blind cave
catfish, _Prietella phreatophila_.
2002: Claire McGrath, University of Colorado, to study displacement of
greenback cutthroat trout by non-native brook trout.

We encourage applications from all interested students, aquarists and
biologists. Please contact me at 256-824-6692 if you have any questions.
