EEEF (ethology, evolutionary [and conservation] ecology of fishes) is a
biennial, international, informal gathering for fish folks. EEEF2000 will
be our 12th meeting and will consist of symposia, contributed papers,
posters, and good times (not the virus).

EEEF 2000 (Y2KEEEF, '00EEF, MILLENIALEEF, ARMAGEDEEF) will be held in
Athens, Georgia at the University of Georgia from May 20-24, 2000. EEEF
2000 will be co-hosted by Gene Helfman (Univ Ga,
helfman_at_sparc.ecology.uga.edu), Dave Bechler (Valdosta St Univ,
dbechler_at_grits.valdosta.peachnet.edu), and Steve Vives (Ga Southern Univ;
svives_at_gasou.edu). Registration and housing costs will kept down to
facilitate student attendance.

Symposia being planned include:
----- Reproductive Biology and Conservation of Minnows (Steve Vives,
svives_at_gasou.edu; Carol Johnston, CJohnsto at acesag.auburn.edu)

----- Biology of self-fertilizing fishes (Dave Bechler,
dbechler_at_grits.valdosta.peachnet.edu; Dave Noakes, dnoakes at uoguelph.ca;
Will Davis, Davis.William_at_epamail.epa.gov, )

----- Evolution of Parental Care in Fishes (Colette M. St. Mary,
stmary_at_zoo.ufl.edu)

----- Mechanistic approaches to habitat selection in fishes (Gary
Grossman, grossman_at_arches.uga.edu; Todd Petty, jtpetty at wvu.edu)

PAPERS DEALING WITH FISH CONSERVATION ISSUES. **SPECIAL NOTE: AN ENDOWED
STUDENT PAPER COMPETITION HAS BEEN ESTABLISHED IN THIS AREA. THE JAN
SMITH MEMORIAL BEHAVIOR AND CONSERVATION AWARD WILL BE GIVEN TO AN
OUTSTANDING STUDENT PRESENTATION THAT SHOWS THE APPLICATION OF BEHAVIOR
TO SOME ASPECT OF FISH CONSERVATION.**
