What is a NANFA Regional Representative?The Regional Representative is defined as the official representative of NANFA within a defined region. Minimal Regional Representative RequirementsOrganization of Events: The representative is required to organize at least one NANFA event each year. The minimal aim of this event is to bring local NANFA members together. This event can take the form of a meeting of members, a field trip, a social such as a BBQ, an educational display, etc. Reporting: The Representaive is required to communicate with the Regional Rep Program Coordinator at least once a year. Ideally this communication will relate to an upcoming trip, the results of an event or to otherwise communicate information regarding activities in the region. This will allow information to be shared better with other members via the website, American Currents, or any other means. The Regional Representative is also required to respond in a timely manner to surveys or other communications required to support Outreach Program operations. Additional Representative RequirementsNANFA strongly encourages regional reps to undertake activities to promote the organization and its goals to the general public. To this end, the Representative is expected to fulfill, to the greatest extent possible, all of the following major requirements Proactive Activities: In additiion to the minimum event requirement noted above, the Representative will proactively promote the NANFA organization and its goals by establishing communications with other organizations and institutions through the arrangement of activities designed to broaden local participation. Communication: The Representative is part of the Outreach Program network, an informal e-mail based communication network that is beingorganized for the purpose of discussing matters of mutual interest, to compare notes on activities and ideas for promoting NANFA and, where appropriate, to coordinate field activities. Management: The Representative will coordinate the activities of the Contacts in the region, and act on the information they supply. Advisor: As the NANFA official for the region, the Representatives is expected to be familiar with the environmental and habitat issues related to native fishes in their assigned regions, and to provide that information in support of other NANFA activities.
