I hate to be a stick-in-the-mud, but do you realize pompano get 25" long?

I've been surf fishing for thirty-five years, I've heard that nasty rumor
about the 25" pompano. It's cruel to tease us surf fishermen like that, I've
never seen one bigger than about 10". They will out grow an aquarium very
quickly, I live near the beach and catch tiny pompano in bait seines all the time.
It is tempting to bring them home but they are pretty much doomed unless you
have a large aquarium without any rock work. I've kept them for a year in a
150 gallon tank but they grew funny shaped and didn't do well. It was sad to
see what they became after seeing what a healthy pompano looks like.
