Subject: NANFA-L-- bottle tanks

i would like some help on writing an article on decorative bottle tanks.
specifically on non filtered, planted, decorative, 1 gallon minimum aquaria.

experience? I haven't kept any bottle tanks, just 1 1/2 to 2 gallon windowsill tanks.

substrate? None

success? Bred a colony of elassoma in two gallon hexes. The did very well, and I had enough to give away two colonies of about 10 each. Also kept single flagfish in a two gallon hex, and two Blackbanded sunfish and two Bluespotted sunfish in a two gallon rectangular.

species? See above

plants? Java fern, java moss, and bacopa carolinensis

lighting? Sunlight

feedings? About 10 blackworms, every three days for the sunnies, some soaked pellets every three days for the flags.

water changing? About a 50 percent water change, once a month.

i have seen several of these over the years and myself have several that are lush w/ plants. ive used gallon pickle jars, 7 and 13 gallon glass bottles, and a interesting 1 gallon chemistry flask.
species survival has been erratic tho w/ the most success using least killies. during the last few months i have had success w/ flag fish and some golden topminnow fry.
plenty of snails survive and sometimes grass shrimp.

im looking for info to compile for an article.
can any of you help?
