Definitely. I am now curious. I suppose one way to test would be to get
some deionized water (on the assumption that the carbon is being gummed
up by other stuff and stopping the catalytic reaction) and add a small
amount of chlorine to be removed by carbon and keep repeating the
process. If it's a truly a catalytic reaction, the carbon should work
indefinitely. I dunno though.
