I am trying to determine the approximate time periods when armadillo del rio
("Plecostomus" or Hypostomus spp.) and sailfin catfishes (Pterygoplichthys
spp.) became established in the aquarium hobby.

Gunther Sterba's "Freshwater Fishes of the World" indicates that earliest
imports of armadillo del rio took place 1893-1928. I was a little surprised
at the 1893 date.

If anyone has access to historical literature on this subject and could
provide me with dates and a reference, I would very much appreciate it.
