I know of some reintroductions of species going on in the Little Pigeon and upper French Broad right now, Bluebreast Darter, Tangerine Darter, Mountain Madtom, other species (there is quite a list) and it was only done there because the water quality had returned to pre paper mill days. I wouldn't think this grant or any would allow just a straight up dump of fish without the waterbody and watershed meeting certain criteria that would make for a high probability of success.

we can bring back a significant number of native species to their original
ranges. In many cases it was our pollution that degraded the habitats that
allowed things like carp to take over but now that pollution is being pushed back
in some areas I wonder if the natives will be able to push back the exotics? I
still think we should try but I don't see sturgeon replacing carp, as an
example, anytime soon.
