I see the same thing in my outdoor tub - few if any
young female Het formosa-in-the end of summer.
Indoors i get maybe 1/3 females, 2/3 males.

PS - does anyone konw if Het formosa will interbreed
with Neoheterandria elegans ? Just wondering if i
need to be real careful about not letting these 2 get
mixed. (so far so good) Charley Grimes and Jim
Langhammer werent sure.

Could the temperature be affecting the sex ratio?

Yes, many (most?) fishes are much more influenced by
temperature than genetics for sex determination.
