Sorry about how goofed up the links were in the first email. I wish I could
set it to text-only from home, but I have to use this danged web based
interface.

Some more photos...

Subject: NANFA-L-- Well they did it... And I missed it.

Hi gang,

The hornyhead chubs in my 100 gallon were-in-it again, and unfortunately I
was
out of town (which btw we need to do a Little Miami trip as soon as it cools
off!). I did a waterchange before I left and they apparently liked that.
There isn't a small pebble on the surface of the substrate anywhere in the
tank... Perhaps the original nests were just, <ahem>, dates.

What I found most amusing is how helpful the chub was to the corbicula.
There's a horde of them incorporated into the nest. I'm sure they enjoyed
being lathered in cyprinid gametes.

Anyway, I walked in-in-about 6:00 pm last night, the southern redbelly dace
were still in most of their color, but fading quickly. They were washed out
when I left, and are again now (as they were in the film last night about
11:00 pm). So I think it went down yesterday afternoon. Other physical
evidence is that the female is scrapped to heck on her left side between the
head and dorsal fin along the dorsal edge (which means the male was smashed
up
against the glass and I'm ticked I missed that!). Her anal pore is also very
extended. You'll see it in the pictures I took, and can probably make it out
in the movies.

The greenside and banded darter seem to be the only other species of fish
interested in the nest besides the chubs. The females keeps scooting them
off
and rearranging the pebbles. I couldn't see any eggs though and didn't want
to disturb it.

The movie files, of course, are large. I hope you have broadband, if you'd
like to see them. I'll put things in order of importance to look at. I will
get some photos of the nest and stuff and load those this evening... I wasn't
thinking when I just took the pictures of the female.
