When I lived in Tucson, I would just marvel-in-them and count myself
lucky for having seen one.

What I mean by this is that I would leave then alone unless they were
rattlesnakes, which I hate to say, I would relocate to protect my
children.

In my mind, a few snakes in my yard are infinitely preferable to their
prey, which will multiply quickly once the snakes are removed.

In Tucson, we had this one california king snake that grew from 18" to
over 3 feet over a few years. Every inch of that snake was made up of
things I don't like near my house, like packrats. I made sure the new
owners knew that the snake was part of the security system.
