I'm a bit surprised-in-the marking sof the juvenile white suckers. I could swear I've never seen such blotching in thier young. I must be confused.

I'm not sure which killies you keep but the species I have will eat almost anything!
Out of curiosity, what would have done with the adult fies?

Thanks for the identification of the juvenile fish. Two other people confirmed
the ID of Pimephales sp off-list as well. I was hoping against hope that
they might have been Blacknose shiners (Notropis heterolepis) which are
listed in Illinois. Also, it appears that juvenile suckers have different markings
from the adults.

So I had Rat-tailed maggots growing in the compost tea bucket ... oh well, my killies ate them.
