>>If you plan on releasing them or keeping them alive, yes, you want to =
be a
little more careful about water temp and chemistry.<<
You can always set jugs of water in the stream on a rope to get them to =
temp while you collect. Streams are really good-in-stripping away heat =
efficiently. It would be best to have a round about idea of pH, but I =
doubt in _most_ systems, that your tap water is going to be much =
different than off the tap. =20

So yeah, I've already thought this through... Just never did it. I'm =
lucky to remember my memory card usually, let alone things like water =
:)

And as I mentioned-in-the Convention after Gerald's talk... You can just =
use a white bucket with stream substrates in the bottom, or even better, =
dark aquarium gravel with some local substrates, and the fish will =
maintain their color. The photographs you saw last week were done in =
this manner. Many of those fish were photographed over an hour after =
collection, and this isn't just a spring thing either...
=20
I picked up a Coolpix 4800 over the weekend (happy 1 year no smoking! :) =
The aperature on this thing is WAY better than the 950 that I've been =
using all these years, so home aquaria shots are gonna get a lot easier =
and happen more frequently. Look for pics and text from the Spring =
Fling coming later this week.
