I would again like to thank NANFA for becoming a sponsor of the
Illinois Chapter of the American Fisheries Society (IL/AFS). We had
our annual meeting last week-in-Rend Lake Resort (and this year we
meet with the Illinois Chapter of the Wildlife Society). With the
help of sponsorships like NANFA, IL/AFS is awarding more and more
student scholarships to attending meetings such as the IL/AFS, the
Midwest Fish and Wildlife Conference, and the national AFS meeting.
Without these scholarships, many students would not have the
opportunity to attend these meetings.

The meeting had a great turn out with over 200 people attending,
including a few NANFA members. There were great oral and poster
presentations ranging from sturgeon life history studies to stream
restoration projects. A link to the abstracts can be found by
clicking on http://www.fisheries.org/html/chapters_subunits.shtml,
then selecting Illinois, and then clicking on upcoming news and
events.

People were impressed with the copies of the AC given and several
people expressed an interest in attending the upcoming NANFA
convention in MO. Again, thanks NANFA for supporting this meetings.
