Yesterday, Heather Smith competed in the Mississippi Junior Science and
Humanities Symposium-in-Oxford, MS. Heather placed second. She won a
scholarship and an expense-paid trip to the national meeting in Albuquerque
where she will compete with other finalists from all over the country.
Heather's talk was titled "Do Endangered Wood Storks Require Floods Along the
Mississippi River?" Emphasis was on birds, but the talk included information
on hydrology, invertebrates, reptiles, and fishes (native and exotic).
