I run a smallish one in my 130 gallon tank, wedged in one corner so that it
pushes water along the back of the tank about 10 cm above the sand. I tried
a bigger one, but it created a huge surge of water that was much too much;
I'm trying to replicated a flowing pool, not a rapid.
