After our on-list yakking about restoration ecology, etc., the latest issue
of the journal Science has an article entitled, "Synthesizing U.S. River
Restoration Efforts", by Bernhardt et al., Vol. 308, pp. 636-637. The
authors point out that many restoration projects are small or medium in
size, and often aren't widely known. So they assembled a database of such
efforts in an effort to better understand how well they work, and what's
being done in general. This work can be viewed-in-http://nrrss.nbii.gov,
known as the National River Restoration Science Synthesis (NRRSS). I haven't
had a chance to look-in-this yet, but it's an appealing idea-in-least to try
to summarize where we in the U.S. are with such efforts.
