I know--and my feelings of mistrust go both ways, just as my Chinese
collegues don't quite trust their government. . .just as the people here in
eastern Kentucky do not trust their own local police

and if someone wants to emulate us and the former Soviet Union in our
biggest mistakes, no wait, make the mistakes even bigger!, having full
access to the data . . .

I guess experience is the dearest teacher, but most will learn no other way

Especially if it is true--is it really legal in the US to
import/sell/purchase/posess an endangered species from another part of the
world? Has it always been legal?
