I had a longnose that went from about 10 to 18inches in a 175 ( i think ..it was over 96" long) with a small LMB that grew fast and a couple of longear sunnies and he had more than enough room. it would take frozen krill along with guppies and goldfish...the guppies and fatheads i fed alot easier because of the profileof their body fits better with a gars mouth. goldfish tended to get caught going into his jaw at times and he would spit them. when he was larger it had to go to a temporary home for a while...a 75 high and although his turning radius was horribly decreased he still behaved and ate the same.

He is doing very well and lives with 6 sunfish and a pair of bullheads. I was feeding him guppies until he reached 6 inches. Now he is eating goldfish. I have had absolutely no luck trying to get him to eat dead food! Any suggestions, anyone?

Could I keep a gar in a 125G tank (72lx18wx22h")? I hear that you can, but I
think that might be a little narrow for it to move around easily. If that is
not suitible for gar, can you reccomend any other primitive fish instead?

Thanks,
Andrew
