That is a neat story. I have crawfish show up in the ponds and my yard on
rainy nights often enough. The lake is 2 blocks away, and the swamp along
the river in the other direction is 2 miles. I am sure they come from the
lake, but some species I have never caught in the lake, only in the swamp.
It is especially common in spring to early summer. Maybe females wander
looking for places to spread their brood too? Or males looking for new
places to conquer?
