In Michigan most of the hatchery fish are trout,salmon,steelhead,some pike
and muskies and walleyes.They used to raise bass but nobody really wanted
them. I think part of it is people want fish to eat and trout are tasty.
Lake associations usually want walleyes or trout. One year at our local fish
club show we did a tour of the Wolf Lake state hatchery.
