I does sound like a problem of too much food and too much light. Sometimes
tap water can add to the problem if it is high in nitrates. Around here it is
too high to be used in marine tanks and will cause blue green in freshwater.
All I can say is cut down on the light intensity and try to cut back on the
nutrient input.
