If I may chime in here, I had just done an aquarium maintenace job today and
as I was finishing up my housekeeping chores on this LARGE Texas cichlid
male's tank, I heard a weird noise, kinda like a squeaking sound.........
I was stooping down to collect my tank-cleaning gear, and had my head and
ear really close to the front glass of the tank. It sounded like
short-bursts of chalk on the blackboard (if anyone can remember that.) : )
When I looked up and into the tank, this fish was biting the glass with his
rather large incisors! Evidently, he'd had enough of me already, and was
defending his terrority!
I got a kick out of that, and promptly gave him some of his favorite food!
