Jeff,

Sorry, should have added that as well. The two best references on the
distributional patterns of NW North American freshwater fishes are as
follows...

Minkley, W.L., D.A. Hendrickson and C.E. Bond. 1986. Geography of Western
North American Freshwater Fishes: Description and relationships to
intracontinental tectonism. Pages 519-614 IN: C.H. Hocutt and E.O. Wiley.
The zoogeography of North American freshwater fishes. Wiley and Sons publ.,
New York.

McPhail, J.D. and C.C. Lindsey. 1986. Zoogeography of the freshwater fishes
of Cascadia (The Columbia System and rivers North to the Stikine). Pages
615-638 in the same volume as above.

I did not directly check all of the taxa against these lists, but have read
the doggone thing so many times that I've got much of it memorized. Both
chapters provide checklists of native and introduced fishes in each drainage
basin as of 1986. The volume itself is out of print, but most larger
libraries have it or can get it on loan. It is one of the most ardently
sought-after books by ichthyologists, and I've heard rumours that copies
have recently been sold for as much as $200. I wish they'd run another
printing...

Also, the USGS recently published a tome on introduced fishes, which I
haven't had the money to buy yet. I keep on telling one of the co-authors
that I'd <really> like to get a copy, but he hasn't gotten the hint... ;)

Cheers,
Dave
