Yes youre right in both cases . Fish and game/dnr organizations are so used
to releasing/transplanting fishes themselves that it can be that they dont
give it much thought .\Eespecialy when conected to one of their own
projects. On the other problem I did note that ,at least initialy , a
teacher must work with a game and fish project manager whom I assumed would
further advise them of dos and donts on regs and such. That part isnt
spelled out . I am overall very proud of Arkansas for its recent progams on
several fronts from streem teams to classroom involvement . I have no
problem with NANFA sending a letter pointing out the fish release
shortcoming with a strong emphasis on the positive side of the project ..
NANFA should also be prepared , if asked , with what they would like to see
in such projects .I would recomend a gentle approach to advising any of
these organizations anywhere on how to do their business .They are trying
hard to do right .Ive just never met a perfect man or organization yet .I
would recomend that the too big fish be found a home in one of the many
isolated fishing ponds or cattle tanks where there the chance of flooding to
an open body of water is as rare as Noahs flood and euthenasia as a last
resort rather than release .
The master naturalist program looks good .
