I haven't thought of them as clean water indicator species, but now I that
I've read your message, I believe it to be so....

They're not very picky as to water conditions and available food
sources........not hard to keep in home aquaria.

There was an article in the American Killifish Association's J.A.K.A. by
Rodney Harper about keeping this species with young killifish fry, and
lauded their tank-keeping abilities,ie: consuming extra wastes and
contributing to the over-all health of the fry in a small, confined
environment..
