Cold weather does commonly slow down fishing. I set a minnow trap last week
and didn't catch anything either. As for the drift wood, if it is indeed
drift wood, not green, all you have to do is weigh it down in a barrel or
some other container that will allow the wood to be completely covered and
wait a few weeks. The wood will soak up water and sink naturally. Boiling it
or using acid or lye will not speed up the process.
