I concur with my esteemed colleagues that the fish is a hogsucker. The location
of the anal fin alone shows that it is a sucker and not a minnow.

It was intresting to read on a previous page that the heron caught the fish in a
broken section of ice over shallow water. Hogsuckers like to "bask" in shallow
water.
