Oh and sorry for the incomplete thought....

If this is the species, he may have heard someone talk about them coming
into estaurine waters or possibly making a conversion into freshwater on a
system like Lakes Marion and Moultrie in South Carolina (as an example... I
think redfish have successfully colonized now?)... And you know how people
get when anything is "different" :)

I always try and remember that I once long ago thought hogsuckers that we'd
caught on rod and reel while fishing for channel catfish were some type of
mutant fish that didn't belong... :)
