I had a tank set up for 4 years with a mulm substrate about 2" deep. The
flounder could swim through it. After a while it would settle in just an hour or
so after being stirred up. but I only used aeration, no filter. Those worms
would have been great in that tank. I took it down this fall because the emergent
plants were getting out of hand and I want to transfer them to a bigger tank.
I don't filter this tank but the mulm seems to want to settle in the sump
instead of the tank.
