NANFA-- Fish Fin Injuries

While collecting, I sometimes notice fishes with fins missing, seemingly
due to injuries. I'm always curious when I see this in fish. Some of the
chubsuckers we found in Tom's River NJ had tail injuries. Some fish we
caught in Kentucky last week had similar injuries. Last night, I fed some
small cichlids to some pickerel. One pickeral caught a cichlid by the
tail. The cichlid thrashed around until it finally got loose minus the
caudal fin. Interesting!
