Go with native killies--you can hopefully find Banded Killifish, Fundulus
diaphanus, in freshwater near your place. They're especially common in lakes
and ponds in shallows over sand. Otherwise, like Al the Eaton and Tony said
earlier, some exotic killies like any from the genus Austrolebias, or some
highland "tropicals" like Diapteron will thrive in your place.
