Hi Bruce,

thanks for the information. From the hellbender website I took that they are
not protected in MO. But you are closer to it. There are no hellbenders
"available" from breeders or institutes, at least not to where I have access
to. I could easier have the WA 1 Andrias japonicus or davidianus. But these
are way too big. That4s one reason why I want to collect them, only some not
many. Two or three pairs would be enough and more would be hard to maintain.
When/if they reproduce then I could spread them to other enthusiasts, there
is a friend of mine who wants them as well. He has excellent contacts but
couldn4t get some.

Do you see any alternative to collect them? I would prefer that.
