I heard of such "evidence" in the european land turtles from Greece. Well,
they are fully protected now, but not hobbyists or pet-traders are
challenging them. It4s the highly subventionated farmers in Greece that just
collect the turtles and store them in plastic bags at roadside until they
die.

Remarbly there are offers of Sechelles giant turtles in the USA with legal
papers. Really wonder how this can be?
